Football Ice Sandwiches for Fun Partytime

Here is an awesome idea for a summer party, team party or really any time for football fans!

Everybody loves ice cream, especially on a hot day.  Ice cream sandwiches are always a popular choice for kids and adults alike.   They are the perfect pool side or party treat.

Ice cream sandwiches decorated to resemble a football would be great as a snack for your little football player.  Or, even the whole team after practice.

These ice cream football sandwiches are not only adorable, but they are really easy to make.

This fun treat recipe was originally published by Kim Byers on The Celebration Shoppe.  She recommended them for a Super Bowl party, which is truly a great suggestion.

I love her idea to draw football plays on the wooden spoons that are used as "sticks" for this ice cream treat.

Ice Cream Football Sandwiches

Kim shares really easy to follow instructions in her article.  You can probably guess how to create these ice cream football sandwiches by simply looking at her photo, but it is still worthwhile to check out her suggestions.  She offers alternate decorating options, as well as freezing and storage tips.  I, myself, was surprised to read that the decorated ice cream sandwiches could last up to 30 minutes.  Of course, I doubt any football player would ever let one sit for that long!  But, you may wish to take the treats to the boys, so it is good to know.

With mini ice sandwiches purchased from the store, a few lines of icing for each sandwich, and wooden spoons, you too can make these totally awesome game day treats.  You will certainly be appreciated and hailed as a very creative mom.  Very cool indeed!

Be sure to check out Kim's other great party ideas, as well as her original recipe online at The Celebration Shoppe.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Popsicle Recipe

School has started and everyday our children come home hot and tired.  Day after day we watch our kids make a bee line for the refrigerator and freezer searching for something to cool them down quickly.  I have found the perfect cold afternoon treat!

These Chunky Monkey popsicles can be made in advance and left in the freezer for those precious hands to easily grab.  The kids will love them and so will you because they are so fast & easy to make.

How to Make Chunky Monkey Popsicles

I call them Peanut Butter Chocolate Banana Popsicles because they are made with peanut butter,  chocolate and bananas, but the creator of these popsicles dubbed them Chunky Monkey Popsicles.  Perhaps, Chunky Monkey is an easier title.  Regardless of the title, they are simply delicious.

Corrinna has featured the recipe for her Chunky Monkey Popsicles on her Glitter 'N' Spice website, which happens to be one of my own favorite sites to visit.  She has given us very easy instructions to follow and also featured the needed Pop Maker to make the popsicles.  Since it only takes about 10 minutes for the popsicles to freeze, you could even make them right before the children get home so they will be ready and waiting.

Corrinna has also included a Magic Shell Chocolate Coating recipe in case you wish to dip your pops in chocolate and maybe even nuts.

Come to think of it, you just might want to make them long before the kids get home from school.  But please, do be kind enough to leave one for each child.

Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches

Homemade Ice Cream SandwichWith the heat of the summer, many of us are craving ice cream and something we can easily hold instead of scoops in a bowl.  This homemade ice cream sandwich recipe looks like the perfect summer ice cream treat.

I remember my childhood days and playing outside.  Every child in the neighborhood would run for their piggy bank money when we heard the melodious sounds of the ice cream truck.  Fortunately, the ice cream man was wise enough to drive slowly to give us time to collect our coins and get back outside.

My favorite selection was an ice cream sandwich.  Nothing ever tasted better than an ice cream sandwich on a really hot day.  Playing outside was hard work and we needed a cold treat.

I haven't seen an ice cream truck in years, perhaps decades.  I never realized how much I took that ice cream truck for granted.  I sure do miss them!  Even as an adult, I imagine I would run for my piggy bank given the chance.  Since there is no ice cream truck, I need a really delicious alternative.  These homemade ice cream sandwiches might be a little more work, but they are definitely worth it!  Plus, I love the extra chocolate coating that actually reminds me of a Klondike bar, but I also want that cake brownie in my cool treat.

This Chocolate Covered Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich recipe is a wonderful homemade ice cream recipe made with brownies, ice cream and chocolate chips.   Personally, I look forward to trying different flavors of ice cream with this recipe.  My husband's favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip and I think that would be a fabulous ice cream flavor to use when making these homemade ice cream sandwiches.
