Pumpkin Cupcakes Cake

Pumpkin Cupcakes Cake for Halloween
Cupcake cakes are really awesome and the Pumpkin Cupcake Cake is truly fabulous!  A wonderful Fun Food for Halloween.

This may look like a lumpy cake, but in fact it is 24 cupcakes put together to create the cake.  I love cupcake pull apart cakes simply because they are so very easy to serve.  Because cupcakes are already individual serving size, guests can pull a cupcake away from the cake without having the mess of cutting a cake.

Halloween Pumpkin Cupcake Cake Tutorial

The entire tutorial with lots of pictures can be found on Cooking for the Holidays.   There is also a list of supplies provided, but aside from the cupcakes and frosting very little else is needed to create this cool pull-apart cake.  The design may seem straight forward by simply looking at the photo, but there are a few tips provided in the tutorial that definitely make decorating easier.  There is also a diagram of how to arrange the cupcakes by size to make the cake.

As you can see, the cupcakes are arranged and then frosted to give the appearance of a cake.  Frosting it that way allows you to decorate it like you would a cake.  If you take a close look at this pumpkin "cake" photo, you will see that the mouth crosses several cupcakes, but finishes the pumpkin face design.

This Pumpkin Cupcake Cake is easy to prepare and serve!

I especially like the Pumpkin Cupcake cake for children.  It isn't scary at all, yet is perfect for a Halloween party or dessert.   It is cute enough that even little children will like the smiling jack-o-lantern.  This Halloween Pumpkin Cupcake Cake is truly a treat for everyone, including the hostess.

How to Make Owl Cupcakes

How to Decorate Owl Cupcakes
In many cities across the United States, children are gathering at their neighborhood bus stop waiting to board the school bus.  Back to school is fun for a lot of kids.  They look forward to seeing their friends again and to starting that new school year.  Some children are sorry their summer is over, while others have mixed emotions about school starting back again.

No matter what their attitude toward school, all children enjoy having treats waiting for them when they get home from their day spent in the classroom.  For that matter, we all enjoy a delicious treat at the end of our work day.  These owl cupcakes would be the perfect special treat for all of us.

How to Make Owl Cupcakes

Be wise and prepare these adorable owl cupcakes for an after school treat for your children.  They just might stop in the kitchen long enough to share the events of their day with you.  That is such an important opportunity for both students and parents, and we all certainly want to encourage our students to talk to us.  That is truly the real treat!

With a few simple store bought ingredients, these owl cupcakes are quick and easy to decorate.  Ellen and Aimee of "Like Mother Like Daughter" share their secret to making these awesome cupcakes.

It is simply amazing what Fun Food can be made with Oreos, M&M's and a bit of creative thinking!  If you don't have time to bake, why not buy store-made chocolate cupcakes and a can of chocolate frosting to use for attaching the eyes, beak & ears.  It doesn't get any easier than that!

Psst! .....  These Owl Cupcakes would also make great treats for the classroom parties throughout the school year.

In the last Fun Food post, I featured the fireworks cupcakes.  Now, we are going to take a look and consider making actual individual firecracker cupcakes just in time for the 4th of July!

There are really easy instructions with lots of photos shared on the Sweet & Crunchy blog at OhNuts which makes creating your own fireworks cupcakes a breeze.  Well easy that is, we might not want a breeze when playing with firecrackers.

These would truly be de"light"ful cupcakes to serve on the 4th of July.

You will be surprised at how easy it is to color your marshmallows.  The supplies you need to color your firecracker marshmallow are available at OhNuts.com.  It is not just red food coloring either.   A much tastier treat is used to color the marshmallows, but I shall let you discover that secret when you visit OhNuts.  It is simply amazing how they really do look like little firecrackers too!

The Fireworks cupcakes would be perfect for a fourth of July party or to make as special treats for your family.

Fireworks Cupcakes

Firework Cupcakes

Memorial Day celebrations are just around the corner and the 4th of July will be here before we know it.  These Fireworks Cupcakes would be fabulous treats for either holiday!

I am always looking for a colorful treat to serve on our patriotic days and these red, white and blue cupcakes would be absolutely perfect.  Plus, they are fast and easy to decorate.

Janette from CulinaryGinger.com shares her red velvet cupcake recipe as will as her frosting and decorating instructions.  She even tells us which Wilton piping tip to use in order to recreate the design you see on her firework cupcakes pictured here in this article.

Have a Cupcake Decorating Party

Children love taking part in preparing for a party or picnic.  These firework cupcakes would make the perfect way to let them participate.

Since fireworks themselves are not exactly uniform in shape and size, these fireworks cupcakes would be ideal to make with kids.  No one would have to stress or strive for perfection.  You could even have a pre-party decorating party for them with a few of their friends and let them try their hand at decorating the cupcakes with the stripes of red, white and blue.   They might surprise you with their own unique design and you certainly will have created a memorable occasion just for them.

Not only would you all have fun decorating the firework cupcakes, but the whole group of family and friends will have a delicious dessert for the actual patriotic picnic or party.

One last thought, be sure to have your camera ready when the kids start decorating.  You never know what "fireworks" might happen in your own kitchen that you will want to have forever documented in a scrapbook.

Baseball Cupcakes

Baseball season is in full swing!

Whether you are a major league baseball fan or a little leaguer's mom searching for the perfect baseball celebration cupcakes, you will love these baseball cupcake selections!

Normally, I only feature one "fun food" per article, but I honestly could not choose a favorite myself.  Therefore, today I am sharing 3 choices and you decide which baseball cupcakes are the biggest hit and knock it out of the ballpark for you.

Baseball Cupcakes #1

Baseball Cupcakes on Worth Pinning (Image & Cupcakes by Carrie)
Baseball Cupcakes Image & Instructions by Carrie on Worth Pinning
On Worth Pinning, Carrie gives us some great tips, tricks and instructions on decorating these really fantastic baseball cupcakes.

She gives the instructions for creating 3 different designs:  the baseball, the baseball and mitt, and the ball and bat design.  There is definitely something here for everyone!

I was most impressed with her easy instructions for creating the baseball mitt.  It is a lot easier than it looks, but it will require a wee bit of patience.  Because Carrie includes pictures, decorating these cupcakes would be pretty easy for anyone who is comfortable with the basics in cake or cupcake decorating.

These baseball cupcakes would actually be a great beginner decorator cupcake project!   A dozen or more cupcakes certainly allow for a lot of practice time.

Baseball Cupcakes #2 and #3

These baseball cupcakes require no instructions because the designs are actually created by the placement, or arrangement, of the iced cupcakes.  Even though there are no instructions, the images are linked to their site of origin.

Baseball Cupcake arrangement
It may not be easy to choose a favorite.  I know I couldn't!

You will probably want to choose one for this weeks celebration and bookmark this article so you can come back for the next celebration selection.

I am sure you will want to serve them all before the baseball season is over.
Baseball & Glove Cupcakes

Children love specialty cakes and cupcakes.  Moms enjoy creating party treats their children will be proud to say, "my mom made that!".

I think any of these baseball cupcakes will be a home run with the entire team.

Luau Cupcakes Recipe

http://www.createdby-diane.com/2010/07/luau-cupcakes.html
Summer break is drawing to a close even though we still have a few months of hot weather ahead.  Many of the children are already back in school, but that doesn't mean we can't have a final summer party before they really have to get back down to work, or perhaps a back to school party.  What better way to end the summer break than with a Luau filled will fun, friends and special treats.

Sometimes the simplest treats to create, make the biggest impact at a party.   That would be the case with these fabulous Luau Cupcakes Created by Diane.   These cupcakes are so easy to make, yet they are perfect for a Luau.  This toasted coconut covered cupcake topped with pineapples and cherries capture the essence of Hawaii in a wonderfully tasty treat.

The Luau Cupcakes Recipe

You may think you can replicate this cupcake by simply looking at the picture, but I assure you, Diane does share a few tricks to make these cupcakes more than a simple cupcake.  Be sure to take note of the cake mix substitutions and her advice about the toasted coconut.  You can find the complete recipe and instructions for Diane's Luau cupcakes on her site Created by Diane.

How to Toast Coconut

Toasting coconut is easy, but does require a bit of patience to achieve that lovely brown toasted shade without burning the coconut.  It takes about 10 minutes to toast coconut in a skillet and you will need to constantly stir it.  Keep it moving to keep it from burning.  There is no need to add any oil or liquid to the skillet.  Only the coconut!

Here is a video that I found on Youtube that shows you the "real time" process for toasting coconut.

Root Beer Float Cupcakes

Spring and summer just make me think of root beer floats, which were a huge part of my childhood days.  Today, they evoke memories of floating down the river or summer day special treats.

Now, if I could just think of a way to keep them from melting!

Root Beer Float Cupcakes

Actually, a good friend has done that very thing for me.

Diana Wenzel has given us a whole new twist on the traditional root beer float by offering us recipes and presentation suggestions for Root Beer Float Cupcakes that look and sound temptingly delicious.

Panda Cupcakes

Cupcakes Made by Sylvestermouse & Daugher
Today on Fun Food, I want to share my all time favorite cupcakes!

Panda Cupcakes are perfect for anytime, any occasion, any birthday, or just for the pure fun of creating a fun food masterpiece.

I first made these Panda cupcakes several years ago with my daughter. We had a blast working together and even more fun serving this adorable cupcakes to our family and friends. Everyone loved them. Not only are they adorable, they are also delicious!

How to Make Panda Cupcakes

Oh, and did I tell you they are really easy to make!   By combining and decorating two cupcakes, one small and one large, you get the adorable panda shape.  Oreo cookies provide the perfect way to create the panda's paws.

Panda Cupcake Faces by Sylvestermouse

Each cupcake is unique because you a are giving each one their own face with a few dabs of decorating gel.  But, they are all adorable!  They make you want to hug them instead of eat them.

If you are looking for a cupcake that is fabulous, yet easy, adorable and fun, these Panda Cupcakes simply cannot be beat.  They are perfect for a child's birthday party, a classroom party, or simply created for your family.

I highly recommend letting children help you decorate these panda cupcakes.  They can easily add the chocolate chips for the nose and eyes even if they are not old enough to handle the decorating gel.    This also gives you the opportunity to teach children about working in the kitchen.  Baking cupcakes together is a great way to introduce them to the world of baking.  With the Panda cupcakes, you might even get the chance to teach them how to correct or cover decorating mistakes.  Kids love being included when creating Fun Food!
